Minister Damdinnyam strengthens partnerships with Canada

Mongolia’s Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Damdinyam Gongor held a meeting with representatives of Canada’s Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources in Toronto, during annual PDAC 2026, international mining conference.

During the meeting, Minister Damdinnyam stated that the mining sector serves as a key pillar of Mongolia and Canada relationship. He expressed his willingness to work closely with Canadian counterparts promote effective governance in the extractive sector, encourage investment in mining, enable fair distribution of natural resource and advance industrialization in Mongolia.

Minister Damdinnyam also highlighted the mining sector role in Mongolia’s social and economic development and introduced the latest Government reforms  to attract investment by creating a stable legal environment, and aligning the royalty tax rates with international standard by amending the Law on Minerals.

Recognizing Canada as a leading supplier of supplier of mining equipment, technology, and services, Minister Damdinnyam expressed his interest in seeing more Canadian entities expand their operations and partnerships in Mongolia.
