G. Damdinnyam, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources received Bang Sunbaek, Managing director, Mine Reclamation and Mineral Resources Corp (KOMIR) in Mongolia.
Mr. Bang Sunbaek, provided an update on the implementation of the project “Mongolia-Korea Joint Rare Metals Research Center” and informed that preparations are underway to organize the Project meeting in October.

He noted that the KOMIR has a tight collaboration with the Mineral Resources and Petroleum Authority of Mongolia (MRPAM) in the field of developing capacity building, short-term trainings for specialists and researchers and information exchange. Also, he pointed out that 54 projects have been implemented in the mining sector of Mongolia in the past, there is still a need to carry out an exemplary project between the two countries.

Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources G. Damdinnyam expressed his satisfaction with the successful implementation of the “Mongolia-Korea Joint Rare Metal Research Center.” He asked for active participation and engagement to further expand their cooperation and increase the number of joint projects particularly in the field of mine closure, reclamation, student training, scholarship programs, and conducting social research. He also expressed his willingness to expedite “Mongolia-Korea Joint Committee” meeting and invite the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, ROK to participate in the “Mining Week 2026” event.
Minister G. Damdinnyam highlighted that the Government has drafted and is ready to submit a bill on Amendments to the Law on Minerals to Parliament. He emphasized that upon the approval of the law, it will create extensive opportunities for cooperation with investors in the field of mineral resources.
